A report is an impersonal statement of fact. The main purpose of writing a report is to provide some important information in a non-personal way. It performs many functions; Analysis, data and facts stimulation, decision-making aids, etc.
Business leaders may not focus too much on a particular issue or question. So they have to depend on the business relationship .

Managers make key decisions based on the report's recommendations. Reports help the organization to run its day-to-day operations.

This makes it the most important form of communication in business life . Therefore, it should be prepared very carefully.
The information in the report should be accurate and clear. The reporter should prepare without personally preparing. The text of the report should be simple and short. Thanks to this, it can solve many business problems.

The word "report" probably comes from the Latin word "reportare". Here "Re" means "return" and "bring" means to return something.
